Melissa Weiss - Summary

I find it pretty sweet and interesting that Melissa has a BFA in photography and now is a potter. I think this goes to show that our passions evolve over time. In a way, I was able to connect with Melissa knowing we share several things in common like photography. 

Taking a look at her work and learning more about it has really made me wonder what kind of person Melissa is. I think a lot of the time an artist's work is based on their personality. From hearing Melissa speak about her work it becomes evident that her work is who she is.

 (Siblings)  (Dog: Toby)  (Dog: Copper) Goals: At the beginning of the semester, I made a list of goals that I wanted to accomplish this spring.  Here are the ones I was able to accomplish: -Find Internship/Apply/Get Offer -Build Successful Network Team -Begin Grad School Process I am glad I was able to set my mind to these goals and complete them by the end of the semester. I will be going to my internship this summer from June-August in Houston as a photographer for a special needs camp.  I was able to build a more successful network by having regular meetings with my professors and receiving guidance for my future endeavors. I also had regular meetings with career development to help me begin the process of getting into grad school and which program I best fit in.  Plans: After the semester is over, I plan to relax for a bit before I get into something new again. Cool News!

 I was asked a week ago to photograph the new art exhibition at our school gallery. I was a bit nervous because I have never done anything like that before. Well, I went in there with my camera and other equipment and began shooting.  Turned out those images I took will be published in a magazine and will have my name on them. I was not even expecting this at all. This is huge to me because I have never had any of my work published. I was also asked if I wanted to keep shooting the gallery for the remainder of the time that I am a student. I said, YES! DUH! Anyway, I've put images below of the work from the gallery in the art building.
